Home Reading Scheme
Dr. Seuss, in his book “I can read with my eyes shut!” says “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” A firm grasp of literacy or the ability to read has been acknowledged as one of the main reasons for a child’s future success and attainment in academics as well as practical life. As such, learning to read is one of the most important skills we can teach a child.
The parent-child home
reading scheme aims to nurture reading at home as a vital source of learning
strategy, inspire our children to find pleasure in the act of reading, and
hopes to instil a spirit of life-long learning. Reading aloud to young children
stimulates their brain, and enhances their cognitive and language development,
increases their interest in reading and gives them knowledge about a wide
variety of topics. It is one of the best activities that exposes them to the
written language, and in doing so enhances children’s abilities to decode, read
and write at a later age.
